Richarlison could remain with Everton for at least one more season

Brazilian attacker Richarlison has said that he could remain with Everton for another season after holding talks with manager Carlo Ancelotti. The 23-year-old joined the Toffees from Watford in the summer of 2018 and registered 13 goals and two assists during his debut Premier League campaign with the club.

In the recent campaign, he was able to match the goal tally and grabbed an additional assist. Speaking to Sky Sports, Richarlison said that Ancelotti is counting on him for another season and there is a good chance that he would stay put, he told: “It’s all been talked about, he’s already told me he’s counting on me for another season, he asked me to hold on for a bit. Though it all depends, if a good offer were to come in, we sit down and talk, that’s part of football. We’re still talking about these details, working things out. He’s bringing in new players, so we’ll sit down and talk, but I think I can hold on for another season.”

The Merseyside outfit made dismal beginning to the previous campaign as they were languishing in and around the drop zone and that paved the way for the dismissal of Marco Silva in December last year. Ancelotti took charge of the club after Boxing Day and the club jumped to the top half of the table in February.

Despite the positives, the Toffees could not sustain the form after the coronavirus shutdown and the conclusion to the campaign was pretty poor with just six points accumulated from the final six games. That included a 3-1 home defeat to Bournemouth on the final day. Eddie Howe’s side were relegated to the Championship despite the winning outcome. Ancelotti is keen on pursuing an experienced striker this summer and he has set his sights on landing Ciro Immobile from Lazio.
