Theo Walcott All Set To Play In Portugal After Recovering From Ankle Injury

Marco Silva, the Everton boss has shown concern over the ankle injury of Theo Walcott and hopes that this weekend he will play some part in Portugal. Walcott has however to feature for the Blues after picking up the problem in the final training session of squads in Austria in pre-season.

The signing of January is the clutch of the players’ part that is yet to feature this summer, but Silva is denying to put anyone into action as he is preparing for the season opening game against Wolves on August 11. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (back), Beni Baningime (ankle) and Yannick Bolasie (stomach bug) have missed the games with Bury and ATV Irdning meanwhile, Ademola Lookman was forced out of 1-1 draw of last night at Gigg Lane with a slight knock.

Silva said on this, “They are different things”. “With his situation, Bolasie is the things that we need to be aware of; the injury of Theo Walcott is nothing special.” In Austria, in the last session, he hurt his ankle, but there is nothing special and after a few days, I am sure, he will start with us once again.

He further added “The other one is Lookman, and this also nothing special, it is the pre-season and it is very normal. Small problems happen to the players and this is normal, we just need to know how to manage this situation as the most important thing here is the first Premier League match. Therefore, this is not the moment to take risks with the players. Our trust in them will boost their confidence which will help them to recover faster and perform the best during this match. Thus, it is important to we don’t take injuries seriously.”
