ARSENAL’S SEASON HAS JUST BEGAN

The Gunners did their part in seeing off Everton in hopes that Liverpool would stumble to Middlesbrough and just maybe salvage the fate of ending the season in a position they had never found themselves in over 20 years: 5th.

Unfortunately Jurgen Klopp’s men didn’t have any of it as goals from Wijnaldum, Phillipe Coutinho and Adam Lallana condemned the already relegated Smoggiesto a final day defeat.

Apart from their final position in the log, Wenger’s men had a season whose joy and sorrows were very similar to those of the past. Next Saturday’s FA cup decider with league champions Chelsea offers a chance to dim the disappointments of the season with the victory lights that comes with lifting the oldest football trophy in English football.

Either way though, the Kroenke-owned club faces a summer like no other. Alex Sanchez never hid his desire to seek for greener pastures throughout the course of the campaign. With The Gunners condemned to the ugly sister of Europe’s premier club tournament, the likelihood of the Chilean getting his dreams come through soared to great heights. The former Barcelona forward is an absolute hot cake with no shortage of first class suitors and therefore only needs to voice his desire out for it to come through.

The funny part is that the club’s unwillingness to raise the Chilean’s pay to a satisfactory range was the chief if not only reason for the contract fracas that has now managed to drag on into a summer of uncertainty. For what it’s worth, the Chilean sure has the upper hand when it comes to negotiations.

Given Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the UCL thereby reducing next season’s potential income, it certainly would be funny to see how they will wriggle out of this one. Their season just began.
