WALCOTT HOPES

Theo Walcott has said that he is hopeful of being included in the Three Lions squad which will visit Brazil next year to take part in the World Cup finals.

Walcott has recently recovered from the surgery which he had to undergo because of his abdominal injury. He made his comeback for his club Arsenal by featuring in the game against Southampton last weekend. He came to play as a substitute in that game and remained on the field for the final 20 minutes. There was clearly a bit of rustiness in his game, but, one can understand that as he was coming back after a couple of months.

Walcott is pretty confident that he will not take that much time to get back to full rhythm.

Talking to the reporters yesterday, the 24 years old English forward said, “I have had injury setbacks in the past. So, I have got the idea how to recover from it.”

“It won’t take me that much time to get back to full speed.  A few matches and I will be fine.”

When asked if he had thought that it would take him this longer to recover from his injury, Walcott said, “No, I hadn’t thought so to be honest. It took me a couple of weeks more than what I had expected, but, I am back on the ground eventually and there is no better feeling than that.”

The World cup is not that far away and if Walcott has to increase his chances of being selected in England’s World Cup squad, he will have to impress the England boss Roy Hodgson by putting up top class performances in the next few games.

Arsenal’s next match is a Champions League encounter against the French club Marseille and Walcott is expected to start that game for the Gunners.
