Walcott relaxed about new striker signings

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is not at all bothered by the talk of new signings by the club over the summer transfer window. He is also not bothered by the fact that the club might not even bring in any player over the window as well. Having traded his role as a tricky winger to a goal scoring centre forward last season after lobbying hard with manager Arsene Wenger, one can forgive the England for scanning the papers every morning with some nervousness.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of high profile striker signings this summer, including Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain as well as Liverpool hit man Luis Suarez. Wenger has also expressed interest in bringing Manchester United’s England international striker Wayne Rooney to the Emirates Stadium and all these players will have a much stronger claim to the role striker role than the converted Theo Walcott.

However, the former Southampton starlet has been at North London a bit too long to take everything with a pinch of salt and wait and see how things transpire. Speaking to the official website of the club, the player stated that only time will tell if the club brings in new players, adding that till then, they have to work with the squad they have at the moment. He went on to mention that there could be some changes when the season kicks off.

Walcott has also mentioned that whoever comes in or leaves the side, getting off to the perfect start is the most important thing. Theo Walcott stated that the club should try and emulate the finish they had to last season, ending with 10 matches without a defeat. He knows every game in the league is tough and getting off to the perfect start will be important.
